BOSTON (September 18, 2020)—Organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), Writing the Future: Basquiat and the Hip-Hop Generation is the first major exhibition to chart Jean-Michel Basquiat’s relationship to early hip-hop culture. The exhibition uniquely positions the iconic artist among a community of peers who were also at the forefront of post-graffiti, a transformative moment in The visual art of Jean-Michel Basquiat and his contemporaries embraced a range of creative practices from hip-hop and jazz music to wildstyle lettering and street art.

The art of Jean-Michel Basquiat will be celebrated next year in an exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. As La Presse reports, the exhibit was initially set to run from October 2021 until February 2022 but was delayed because of the ongoing pandemic.
